As parents, raising healthy kids is a top priority for all of us. We do not want it to be a temporary thing either. My personal mission is to raise lifelong healthy eaters. I try to move beyond the idea of "eat what is on your plate because I said so" and try to develop a basic, kid-friendly understanding of the importance of healthy eating. I believe that the more we talk about nutrients, the importance of "eating the rainbow", why real food is more beneficial for our bodies and minds than processed food, as well as other things, the more likely my kids become flourishing, healthy kids now and flourishing, healthy adults in the future. One of the best places to help healthy kids thrive in the way I am describing is in the kitchen. Bring them right into the heart and soul of the house! Let them watch, let them observe, let them question.
Decorating the kitchen can be an expensive proposition, but if you are on a budget, look around you to see what you may have in your home, that you can use to brighten up your kitchen. Do you have some nice dishes tucked away in cabinets that you could display on a counter top? Plate racks are inexpensive and plates look good standing in strategic places on the counter. You can even look in second hand stores for some cheap plates with a design that may go with your kitchen colors or decor, and all it will cost you is a couple of dollars. How about decorating the kitchen with some woven baskets you may have around your home. These look great if you are trying to create a rustic type of atmosphere in your kitchen. Having them placed along the top of your cabinets and perhaps a couple on your counter tops holding some fruit can add that rustic charm. I have even seen baskets used as a window valance and they looked really effective.
Having a healthy approach and attitude to maintaining health and safety and food safety is very important, if you want to avoid any unnecessary illnesses or injuries in the home or at work. We all spend a lot of our time preparing and consuming food, so having an effective approach to food safety and hygiene is vital, especially if you enjoy entertaining and preparing meals for friends and family. There are some simple steps you can take to make your kitchen a safe haven for your personal or working life. In taking the right steps, you will avoid accidents, such as trips and falls, burns or cuts. Unfortunately these sorts of things usually happen to us when we are at home and are caused by not paying attention to what we are doing.
There is no Use of Existing Appliances. Do you have kitchen appliances that you no longer use? It is important to remember that appliances take up the maximum amount of space. And, if there are several appliances that do not function properly, it is time to discard them. You should also make a list of the appliances that do not satisfy your needs completely. For example, if the size of your family has increased, your old microwave will not be sufficient to defrost a large turkey or a chicken. When the appliances start restricting your cooking experience, it is time for remodeling the kitchen. By upgrading the kitchen and buying modern appliances, you will be able to reduce the energy bill as well as decrease excess consumption of water.
