The next step in carrying out your DIY kitchen design and remodeling project is the daydreaming phase. Sort out the pictures of your dream kitchens and decide which elements are the must-haves and which are impractical in the scope of your project, either due to cost or space constraints. You will want to measure your existing kitchen, marking in cupboards, counter tops and windows which will remain stationary. Let's say you have got your heart set on new paint and flooring, matching appliance covers, new cabinet facings and counter top coverings, track lighting, an island and a window greenhouse. Wow! Now that is a brand new kitchen. Sounds ambitious. Now let's break this makeover down into separate projects, done over a period of time. The idea is to organize each task such that your budget allows completion, while keeping your kitchen usable during that period, as much as possible.
It can be easy to envision how your new kitchen would be designed and how it could complement the interiors of your home. However, most kitchen designs available in the market today are pre-made, which means you have limited options such as in where you want to store your kitchen tools, pots and pans, utensils, etc. More often than not, regular kitchen designs are ready-made, so you need to adapt around their layout and design. Hence, many people choose bespoke kitchen designs because of the freedom to select the design details as well as setting the layout of the kitchen according to your preferences and needs.
UTILIZING YOUR KITCHEN. Are you an expert chef, who does it all: cooking, baking, barbecuing, or are you a minimal cook whose main goal is to just get a meal on the table for the family as expeditiously as possible, or are you somewhere in between? Do you always cook by yourself or do you often have family and friends help with the cooking? Do you often entertain and all flow into the kitchen while munching on your Brie between sips of chardonnay? Do you bake often and want a marble surface for that purpose? The questions can go on and on. Some clients have large, prestigious, homes and entertain frequently and/or have large families. They may have someone do the cooking for them. Some of these types of projects may need the full treatment, such as a butler's pantry or walk-in pantry, two islands, two refrigerators, two dishwashers, two microwave ovens, a wine cooler, a separate beverage cooler, a built-in espresso machine, sink, prep-sink and bar sink and glass-door cabinets to display the family heirloom china, etc.
Good kitchen design online means having a layout for your kitchen that provides an efficient and pleasant area in which to prepare meals and do related tasks. Understanding the kitchen work triangle concept and basic kitchen layout types is a valuable starting point to design a kitchen online that you like. The kitchen work triangle consists of the distance between the sink, refrigerator and range or cooktop. Each one of these areas becomes a focal point in the kitchen and forms the three points of a triangle with different distances between them. Done correctly, proper kitchen design online will give you the most efficient food preparation area layout in your kitchen.
